WISE Women Honor Two with Cove Connections

Juls Bratton, sales and marketing director at Homewood at Martinsburg, was one of the honerees during the WISE Women of Blair County ceremony Wednesday, April 17, at The Casino at Lakemont Park.

Bratton was honored as a Community Service Volunteer as the founder and president of Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc.

Michelle A. McIntyre, director of the Roaring Spring Community Library, was honored in the Non-Profit/Government category.

The WISE Women of Blair County Tribute recognizes and honors Blair County women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in promoting the awareness of the significant role of women in the quality of life in our community and its economic growth.

The mission of WISE Women is to empower women and eliminate racism through collaboration, service, and education.

The organization provides grants to organizations and groups whose work advances the Mission; provides educational scholarships to women who have overcome adversity; and recognizes outstanding area women at the annual Tribute dinner.

Tribute Categories

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT: Presented to a woman, selected by the WISE Women of Blair County Board of Directors, who, during her lifetime or the span of her career, has exemplified the Mission of WISE Women.

RISING STAR: Presented to a young woman, no older than 25 years of age, providing self-initiated community service that has both significant and positive impact.

ARTS & LETTERS: Presented to a woman for contributing significantly to the culinary, literary, performing, or visual arts in either a paid or volunteer capacity.

BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL: Presented to a woman for providing leadership in business and industry, profit oriented services, or working in a field requiring specific advanced training or certification (e.g., architect, CPA, engineer, lawyer, or medical professional).

COMMUNITY SERVICE VOLUNTEER: Presented to a woman for performing outstanding service to the community by demonstrating distinctive and unique contributions and benefits as a non-paid volunteer.

EDUCATION: Presented to a woman working in a formal educational setting and demonstrating exceptional leadership or innovation.

NON-PROFIT/GOVERNMENT: Presented to a woman working in a non-profit organization or in a governmental/political environment and demonstrating visionary leadership for the betterment of the community.
