Bedford County 'Fills a Glass with Hope'

The Bedford County Dairy Promotion Committee recently presented a check in the amount of $3,000 to the Bedford County food banks for its "Fill a Glass with Hope" project.

Samantha Van Pelt (second from left), Bedford County Dairy Princess, presents the oversized check to Jamie Bulger, food bank coordinator for Bedford County.

Also on hand for the check presentation are (from left): Addison Love, Dairy Miss; Hannah Bechtel, alternate Bedford County Dairy Princess; and Chloe Wiedemann, Dairy Miss.

"Fill a Glass with Hope" is a program that provides Bedford County food banks with milk to families in need. "Fill a Glass with Hope" is in coordination with Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association and Feeding Pennsylvania.

With the "Fill a glass with Hope," Bulger said he hopes to be able to provide most of the 800 families who utilize the food banks with fresh milk.

The profits are from the sales made by the Bedford County Dairy Promotion Committee at the Bedford County Fair and at the Southern Cove Power Reunion.

Bedford County serves more than 800 families and the need is great. People may make a donation to the feedingpa.org/milk or make a donation to their local food bank. For every dollar donated, that dollar will provide eight servings of milk.
