"Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord, by the pow'r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in Thine. Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the cross where thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To thy precious bleeding side." – I sang as I washed dishes.

"What does consecrate mean?" came the question.

"Well, I think it's like harnessing one to some work with a little ceremony to mark it," I answered.

But I ran for my dictionary because I didn't trust my own definition and because I like words.
