Jan. 17 Meeting

The Blair County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, for its monthly meeting at the Roller Hojeth Library, 431 Scotch Valley Road, Hollidaysburg.

Elaine Conrad will be the guest Speaker. In 1972, she moved to the “Wopsy Mountain” area with her family and became intrigued with the history and lore of the area. She maintains a Wopsononock Web site.

Conrad will speak on Wopsononock Railroad and the Resort. The Wopsononock railroad ran from Altoona to the top of the mountain at the resort. The resort was well known throughout Pennsylvania. Learn more about the Resort and railroad and see many pictures of this once well-known resort.
