JUNE MARJORIE SHOPE-WHETSTONE

June Marjorie Shope-Whetstone, 93, a resident of Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away on Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2018, at the home.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral today, Thursday, Jan. 3, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., http://www.bolgerfuneralhome.com, Martinsburg. Pastor Grace Marie Ransom will officiate.

Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Marjorie was born on June 12, 1925, in Martinsburg, daughter of the late Henry C. and Elizabeth A. (Hartman) Barr.

She was twice married, first to Charles C. Shope and then to Charles L. Whetstone M.D. Both preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons: Steven M. (Nancy) Shope of Mesa, Arizona, Randall R. (Cynthia) Shope of Hollidaysburg and Christopher T. (Diana) Whetstone of Rochester, Michigan; 10 grandchildren: Jackie Leather, Michaela and Alexis Shope, Adam (Haleema) Shope, Stephanie and Jared Shope and Caleb, Charles, Jacob and Clayton Whetstone; a great-granddaughter, Norah Shope; and two brothers: James and Charles Barr of Martinsburg.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Geist, Helen "Betty" Petee and Pauline Banks.

Marjorie was a graduate of Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg, and the Altoona School of Commerce. Following graduation she was employed at Trans World Airlines, Washington, D.C., and years later retired from the Grier School in Huntingdon County.

She attended Hollidaysburg United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the former Martinsburg United Methodist Church. Marjorie also was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Marjorie was a very talented seamstress and also enjoyed traveling and making crafts.

Memorial contributions in memory of Marjorie can be given to Garvey Manor Nursing Home, 1037 S. Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
