NB High School Students Win State STEM Competition

Qualify for Nationals

Northern Bedford County High School's Engineering by Design class entered into the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest, and on Thursday, Jan. 3, was officially named as state champion for Pennsylvania. NBC's team is currently involved in troubleshooting and testing an RFID transmitter/receiver for warning lights placed prior to school bus stops where the upcoming location may be unexpected or obscured by roadway geometry and terrain, such as a curve or a hill. Northern Bedford County High School's Engineering by Design class in December entered into the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest. On Thursday, Jan. 3, the class was officially named as state champion for Pennsylvania.

The contest is a nationwide competition that challenges students to inspire change in their local communities by developing solutions to complex issues using STEM skills.

As a result of being named the state winner, the high school will receive $20,000 worth of free technology with a chance of winning an additional $100,000 grant.
