LEROY F. 'RED' DETWILER

Leroy F. "Red" Detwiler, 79, of Williamsburg RR, passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2019, at Altoona Center for Nursing Care after battling several health issues

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 5, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., http://www.bolgerfuneralhome.com, Williamsburg.

Private interment was held at Shellytown-Fairview Cemetery, Williamsburg RR.

Red was born on July 18, 1939, in Williamsburg, son of the late Evelyn O. Detwiler.

Surviving are three daughters: Evelyn Weyant in Texas, Christine Smith (Jeffrey H. Snyder) of Hollidaysburg and Delsie Detwiler (Joe Chesney) of Williamsburg; a son, Roy Shuey of Huntingdon; four stepdaughters: Dawn Mummert, Sharon Wagner, Georgette Weaver and Amanda Lynam; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Red was a lifelong resident of Williamsburg and a 1964 graduate of Vale Technical Institute, Blairsville. He retired as the owner and operator of Reds Car Care in Williamsburg RR and also from Raystown Transit, where he drove bus for the Williamsburg School District.

He was a member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post 456, Williamsburg, and the Blair County Antique Auto Club, where he sponsored the Williamsburg Car Show for 28 years.

Red will be remembered most for his love of old cars and driving a school bus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
