Piney Creek Accident

A two-vehicle crash along State Route 866 (Piney Creek Road) in Woodbury Township, Blair County, on Jan. 8, sent one driver to the hospital.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, Heath J. Amick, 28, of Martinsburg, was traveling south along Piney Creek Road when he lost control of his 2014 Dodge Ram while negotiating a left curve. The vehicle traveled into the path of a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Shawn J. Landis, 56, of Williamsburg, which was traveling north along Piney Creek Road. After striking the Silverado, Amick's vehicle continued south approximately 135 feet before coming to a final rest along the west shoulder of the road. Landis' vehicle continued on the west shoulder after being struck.

Landis was transported by Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service to UPMC Altoona with unknown severity of injuries.

According to police, Amick was charged with failure to drive his vehicle at a safe speed.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
