Commissioners Give $120,000 to Local Preservation Efforts

The Blair County commissioners, as part of the 2019 budget, have allocated $120,000 from their Marcellus Shale funds for use to preserve Blair County Farmland.

This allocation, an increase of $40,000 from recent years, will likely ensure that three and possibly four farms may be considered for easement purchase in 2019. Blair County continues to lead the region in total acres under perpetual Conservation Easements in the central region of PA with 7,697 acres preserved. Currently, Blair and Centre County are tied with 51 farms under easement.
