Sharon Clewell (left) taught James Charlesworth (right) and his sister, Heather, at Central Elementary School in Hollidaysburg. They were in the gifted program. Central is now a set of houses in Hollidaysburg, after the school was moved to present day Longer Elementary in the 1980s.

James Charlesworth lived his entire life up until college in Hollidaysburg. His parents still live in the house where he grew up and learned to love reading. At a very young age, he could (and was happy to) recite his favorite books.

At 41 years old, James Charlesworth is now listed as one of the 10 new authors to watch. His first published book, “The Patricide of George Benjamin Hill,” arrived on bookstands on Jan. 15.
