C-K Grapplers Defeat Juniata Valley

The Claysburg-Kimmel High School wrestling team took advantage of five forfeits en route to a 47-12 victory at Juniata Valley on Jan. 22.

There were only three matches wrestled on the night, all won by the Bulldogs (3-9). Hunter Dively earned a fall at 132 pounds, Kobe Harr won by technical fall at 170 and Cooper Lingenfelter scored a fall at 195.

C-K wrestlers who won by forfeit were Zach Claycomb, Cade Keithley, Blayde Shawley, Levi Brown and Logan McDonald.

Juniata Valley’s 12 points were via two forfeits.

There were no matches at 106, 120, 126 and 182 pounds.

Thomas Chevrolet Tournament

The Bulldogs placed 16th with 77 points in the 27-team field at the Thomas Chevrolet Tournament held Jan. 25-26 at Bedford.

Four C-K wrestlers placed in the top eight of their respective weight classes.

Kobe Harr led the charge with his second-place finish at 160 pounds. Harr lost a 3-1 decision to Burrell High School’s Austin Mele in the championship bout, his first defeat of the season. Harr finished the tournament 3-1,

Cade Keithley placed fifth at 138 pounds. Keithley earned a 7-5 decision against Newport High School’s Mason Kauffman in the fifth-place bout. Keithley won four of his six matches at the tournament.

Blayde Shawley finished in sixth place at 145 pounds. He lost by major decision (15-6) to Bedford High School’s Nathan Gabriel in the fifth-place match. Shawley was 5-3 in the tournament.

Cooper Lingenfelter finished in eighth place at 195 pounds. He lost by major decision (11-1) to Penn Cambria High School’s Marcus Wirfel in the seventh-place match. He went 3-3 in the tournament.
