Lady Panthers Pick Up Second Win of Season

Northern Bedford’s girls’ basketball team got its second win of the season in a 45-42 victory at Forbes Road on Tuesday night, Jan. 22.

Madison Cottle hit for 17 points, including four treys, to propel the Lady Panthers.

Northern trailed 16-8 at the end of the first period but came storming back to take a 28-26 lead at the half. The Lady Panthers never trailed from that point forward in running their record to 2-11.

“We did a nice job of battling back with smart play in transition and doing a much better job defensively in the second half,” Northern Bedford coach Jon Ewart said.

Madison Johnson chipped in with 12 points for the Lady Panthers.

NB also won the junior varsity game. Makayla Kochara scored 13 points to pace the Lady Panthers to a 30-21 victory.

Tussey Mt. 59, NB 29

Northern Bedford started strong but couldn't maintain the effort through four quarters in a 59-29 loss at Tussey Mountain last Thursday evening, Jan. 24.

Northern was down just 13-9 after one period, but the Lady Titans increased the lead to double digits at 28-17 by the half.

“They wore us down and really got after us after we had a decent start,” NB coach Jon Ewart said.

Madison Johnson had 10 points to lead the Lady Panthers.

Allie Snider had 10 points but NB also dropped the junior varsity game, 37-32.
