Central Cove FFA Chapter

The Central Cove FFA Chapter, Martinsburg, is advised by Thomas Ritchey. There are 95 members in the chapter.

The chapter's 2018-19 officers are:

• Kara Stultz, president

• Hunter Metzker, vice president

• Victoria Longenecker, secretary

• Garrison Dibert, treasurer

• Kase Smith, reporter

• Keller Metzker, sentinel

• Micah Snowberger, chaplain

• Ellen Kennedy, student advisor

• Casey Walters and Jason Ferry, assistant officers

• Tom Ritchey, adult advisor.

Year-to-Date Activities

• State FFA Activities Week at Penn State: Hunter Metzker, second place in creed contest (gold medalist); Kara Stultz, third place in senior prepared public speaking (gold medalist); gold medalist – Dana Heltzel (creed contest); bronze medalists – Lily Sollenberger and Kase Smith (land judging); silver medalist – Madison Benfer (dairy cattle showmanship).

• Four members traveled to the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts. Keller Metzker represented Pennsylvania in the creed contest and placed first in this competition that included speakers from eight states.

• Attend Altoona Curve baseball game

• Chapter skeet shoot at Martinsburg Sportsmen's Club

• Participated in the Morrisons Cove Dairy Show

• Participated in the Blair County Junior Livestock Show/Sale

• Participated in the Hollidaysburg Community Fair

• Assisted with the Blair County Ag Career Day at Kulp Family Dairy

• Assisted with the Blair County Chamber of Commerce's "Down on the Farm" event

• Attended the Blair County FFA land use contest at near Martinsburg. Top three placings: Kaden Conrad (first), Chase Kreider (second) and Victoria Longenecker (third)

• Five students received Blair, Bedford, Fulton Area FFA Degrees

• Kara Stultz, Hunter Metzker and Kase Smith received their Keystone FFA Degrees at Pennsylvania Farm Show

• Two state officers visited the chapter

• Sophomore field trip to Ritchey's Dairy

• Attended the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Mid-Winter FFA Convention

• Conducted farm animal program for kindergarten students

Upcoming Activities (February/March)

• Ice skating party

• National FFA Week Activities (class breakfasts, community service project, hosting faculty/staff milk and donuts and more)

• County, area and regional public speaking contests

• Chapter banquet

• Tag animals for the 2019 Blair County Junior Livestock Show/Sale in August.
