The Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Co. held its annual banquet and awards ceremony on Feb. 2 at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park. Hunter Wierman (left) received the Captain's Award, while Jordan Brantner received the Fireman of the Year Award.
The Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Co. held its annual banquet and awards ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.
After the welcome and invocation, a complete chicken and beef dinner was catered by Frederick's Meat Market of Roaring Spring. Audrey Martin, wife of Glen Martin of Curryville, provided the attendees with homemade doughnuts for desert. She explained it took about five to six hours to make the 250 doughnuts. Her two sons, who are 12 and 10, assisted her.
The guest speaker was Tim Hileman, chief of Altoona Fire Department. He was accompanied by his wife, Lisa....
