Lady Panthers Fall to 3-17 Overall

February 14, 2019

Northern Bedford fell to 3-15 overall as a result of a 54-46 home loss to Southern Huntingdon on Feb. 4

The Lady Panthers held a 16-12 lead after one period, but a poor second quarter proved to be the difference.

SH took a 27-24 lead at the half and increased that lead as the game moved forward. Down as many as 10 points, the Lady Panthers did fight back to within five early in the fourth but could not finish the comeback effort.

Ariel Reed (13 points) and Maddie Cottle (12) paced the Lady Panthers.

Maddie Cottle’s 17-point effort was not enough as Northern Bedford fell to McConnellsburg, 50-36 at home on Feb. 5.

McConnellsburg pulled away from the Lady Panthers after a 10-10 tie at the end of the first period. The Lady Spartans had slight advantages in each of the remaining periods, and NB never led after the first frame.

“We were competitive but made mistakes that allowed McConnellsburg to get a lead and were unable to threaten them in the second half,” NB coach Jon Ewart said.

Northern Bedford had one of those nights when the ball just wasn’t going in the basket. The Lady Panthers offensive woes led to their downfall in a 48-20 road loss at Southern Huntingdon on Friday night, Feb. 8.

The Lady Panthers could manage just 11 points through three quarters and found themselves down 39-11 at that point.

Madison Johnson scored seven points, five of which came from the charity stripe, to pace Northern Bedford. The Lady Panthers managed to hit just five shots from the field in the entire game.
