C-K Teams Fall in D-6 Playoffs

The Claysburg-Kimmel High School boys’ basketball team, making its second postseason appearance in the last four years, lost in the opening round of the District 6 Class 1A playoffs on Feb. 19.

The Bulldogs, seeded ninth, fell on the road at eighth-seeded Northern Cambria 62-51. The Colts closed out the game with a 27-16 run in the final eight minutes to win their 10th game (10-12).

Kyle Glass (two 3-pointers) and Landan Bauman led the Bulldogs with 13 points each. Bauman also grabbed eight rebounds. Dominic Francona contributed 10 points.

C-K Girls Fall to Valley

The Claysburg-Kimmel High School girls’ basketball team saw its 2018-19 campaign end on Thursday, Feb. 21, in the quarterfinals of the District 6 Class 2A playoffs.

Seeded sixth, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind by 14 after the first quarter against third-seeded Juniata Valley and couldn’t recover during their 60-25 setback.

Juniata Valley led 17-3 after the first eight minutes and 37-13 at intermission.

C-K ended its season with a 17-6 record. Three of the losses came at the expense of Juniata Valley.

Emily Claar paced C-K with eight points. Megan Hartman and Olivia Locke each added six points.
