Gordon Cameron of Duncansville attended the Cove Lions Club's oyster dinner on Saturday. He has been attending the annual dinner for 10 years. Randy Musselman of New Enterprise was attending the dinner for the second year. Both men said the oysters were delicious.

The Cove Lions held its annual oyster dinner on Saturday, March 9, in Loysburg.

As usual, folks arrived as early at two hours ahead to assure they could be one of the first ones to eat.

The club sold 400 tickets this year. Fifty-five gallons of oysters were breaded by members the day before in preparation.

According to Carole Smith, secretary of the Lions Club, the preparation took more than eight hours. More than 20 people were utilized to serve and prepare the meal.

This delicious meal of fried oysters, oyster stew, ham, green beans, applesauce, scalloped potatoes and rolls are a favorite among Cove residents. Folks as far away as West Virginia, Artemas and Altoona also attended.

The Lions also have wing night the first Friday of the month from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Brunch is served on the first Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Leanna Calhoun from New Enterprise is district governor for Lions Club International. She explained the district convention will be held on April 6 at Northern Bedford High School, Loysburg.
