Mary “Alice” Long, 91, of Roaring Spring, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, March 9, 2019, at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral today, Thursday, March 14, at the Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, Duncansville. Pastor John Leatherman will officiate.

Interment will be made in Dry Run Cemetery.

Alice was born on Oct. 29, 1927, in Gallitzin, the daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Gailey) Smith.

She married Milton L. Long on Oct. 20, 1952. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2004.

Alice is survived by five children: Milton Long (Debbie), Leroy Long (Linda), Jeff Long (Cindy), James Long (Lissa) and Beverly Long; seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Joshua (Kim), Jacob (Meghan), Hayden (Kristie), Grant (Kayla), Emily and Morgan; six great-grandchildren: Cullen, Mary, Charlotte, Rachel, Ian and Malachi; five sisters: Pean, Vera, Grace, Judy and Bib; and a brother, Bill.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen and Margie; and four brothers: Red, Charlie, Fred and Joe.

Alice retired from Boyer Candies in 1988 after 22 years of service.

Upon retirement, her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren.

Alice was a faithful member of the Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where she had worked in the nursery, assisted with cleaning/housekeeping and was a Bible School helper.
