Tired of Getting Your Herald Late? Go Online

March 14, 2019

Are you an out-of-state Herald subscriber? Do you frequently get your Herald edition several days or even a week late?

There’s a solution for that.

I’d like to remind all Herald subscribers – but especially those who don’t live in Pennsylvania – that the Herald now offers online subscriptions.

The online version of the Herald presents the same news and photos as the print edition. You won’t be missing a thing by subscribing online. As paperback versions of hard-bound books used to state: “Not one word has been omitted.”

In fact, when Herald management was setting up the website with the designer, we specifically arranged for the website to be an alternative to those who don’t live in Blair, Bedford or Huntingdon counties.

For some reason, the United States Postal Service frequently has trouble getting Herald editions to far-away subscribers. We mail all Heralds at the same time and from the same location. Once the Heralds are out of our hands, we have no control over their delivery. We rely on the USPS to get them to our subscribers on time.

I have my own dark theories about why this happens, but I’ll keep them to myself as the Herald still needs the USPS as a partner for delivery.

It might be true that you, like me, prefer to hold a newspaper in your hands as you read it. We understand that. But we also understand that you don’t want to wait a week to get your Herald.

All the information in each Herald is uploaded to the Herald website every week around noon on Thursday. That’s approximately the same time that the printed Herald editions hit the newsstands.

If the online version interests you, please go to http://www.mcheraldonline.com to check it out. Once you get to the website, click on “Subscribe” in the upper right corner, in the dark-blue bar above the Herald name.

If you’re a current print-edition Herald subscriber but would like to change to online only, please call us at (814) 793-2144 and we’ll do that for you.

A one-year, online-only subscription to the Herald will cost you $38. That works out to 73 cents a week. What else in your life do you enjoy but which costs only 73 cents a week?

Once your payment is processed, you will be able to create sign-in credentials and enjoy reading your Herald, delivered to you in a timely manner.

You’ll never have to worry about getting your Herald late again and you won’t have to call our office about your missing Herald.

Instead, you can grab a cup of coffee at noon on Thursday, fire up your computer, log on and there it is – The Morrisons Cove Herald, online.

I want to stress that all of the feature, editorial, news and photo content from the print edition is placed online. We don’t leave anything out. (We are still working on getting public notices and classified ads online, but that will be coming soon.)

Now would be a good time to remind friends and relatives that the online version of the Herald is available.

We welcome your thoughts on the new online version of the Herald. Please email your comments directly to me at [email protected]

As always, thank you for reading.
