JACOB CURTIS 'JAKE' GRUBB JR.

Jacob Curtis "Jake" Grubb Jr., 84, of New Enterprise, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019, at his home following an extended illness.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at New Enterprise Church of the Brethren. Pastor Darwin Steele and Bryan Baker will officiate.

Private inurnment will be held at Spring Hope Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Jake was born on Dec. 11, 1934, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Jacob Curtis Sr. and Elda Mae (Lynn) Grubb.

He married Jo Ann K. Roach on June 13, 1959, in Winchester, Virginia. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2000.

Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie L. (Brian) Musselman of New Enterprise; four sons: Paul Edwin (Sharon) Roach of Indiana, Russell K. (Robin) Grubb of Osterburg and Craig A. (Melanie) Grubb and Scott R. Grubb, both of New Enterprise; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jan M. Claar of Martinsburg and Sharon E. Jones of Hollidaysburg RR; a brother, Wilfred P. "Bill" of Martinsburg; and his friend and companion of 17 years, Beverly G. Swope of New Enterprise.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Galen, Byron, Warren "Bob," Garry and Roger.

Jake attended Morrison Cove High School, Martinsburg.

He worked as a self-employed over-the-road truck driver and also drove for Gabler Trucking Inc,, Chambersburg, with a total of 32 years behind the wheel.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952 until 1956, attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Jake was a member of New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, Cove Lions Club, SCRV Camping Club, Southern Cove Power Reunion and the Northern Bedford Senior Citizens Club.

He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed camping, hunting and dirt track racing.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jake can be given to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, 3 Columbus Circle, 15th Floor, New York, NY 10019.
