C-K Softballers Start Year 2-1

The Claysburg-Kimmel High School softball team began defense of its District 6 Class 1A title with a 14-3, six-inning victory over visiting Bellwood-Antis on March 27.

C-K jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings before B-A closed the gap to one. The Lady Bulldogs scored once in the fifth and erupted for nine in the sixth to end the game via the mercy rule.

Harleigh Cavender had a huge day at the plate for C-K, as she had four hits – including a double and a home run – drove in eight runs and scored twice. Corryne Weyandt had three hits in the win, while Jazmin Kennedy, Haileigh Reed, Madiso...
