Dragons Come Up Short in V-ball Opener

The Central Dragon volleyball team opened its season on March 28 by hosting Forest Hills. The Dragons came up short 20-15, 25-13, 25-21, 25-15.

Devin Clapper paced the team with 11 service points and added five kills. Sam Moyer also recorded 11 service winners and Zack Gahagan nine. Jordan Stump and Alex Barnes each had four kills.

The junior varsity team lost 21-25, 26-24, 15-11.

“I felt the team did well for the first match,” Central coach Ken Wyant said. “We certainly improved since our earlier scrimmage against Forest Hills a week ago. We had few mistakes in the opening set but as they improved their play our mistakes increased. Our serve/receive let us down.

“We’re young and very inexperienced with just one player with much overall experience, but the young players will develop and find their roles on the team.”
