Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
The music is set, the jokes are written, the performers are ready, the chorus is putting the finishing touches on the music, and the cast is in their final week of rehearsals for the Claysburg Hee Haw Show sponsored by the Claysburg Rotary Club.
On Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, when the curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. at Claysburg-Kimmel High School Auditorium, the 19th annual Claysburg Hee Haw Show will be in full swing. The show is full of stories, jokes, comedy routines and music entertainment.
The typically large cast of performers is made up mostly of Claysburg area residents. Many are repeat performers, including a number of 19-year show veterans. The evening will feature jokes from the corn field, the Clothesline Singers, KORN News, Miss Pearl and the kids in the schoolhouse, as well as other skits and silliness.
Returning this year are masters of ceremonies Heidi Kennedy and Matt Imler.
Special musical acts both nights will include Marty Walters, Stacy Cowher, Cindy and Clayton John and Amy Ward and family. Wills Mountain Cloggers, Mountain City Grass and Jodi Cantler will perform on Friday night only and Becky's School of Dance, Ben Eberhart, and 5 DC will perform on Saturday night only. In addition to the special musical guests, the Claysburg Community Chorus under the direction of Dan Crist will perform several numbers each act. While the show begins at 7:30 pm each evening, music will begin at 6:45 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in advance from members of the Boy Scouts, the Cub Scouts, the Girl Scouts, and at Peggy's Diner and C&S Family Markets in Claysburg. Tickets will also available at the door the nights of the show.
All pre-sale tickets will benefit Claysburg Scouts. Tickets purchased at the door will benefit the ongoing projects and programs of the Claysburg Rotary Club.
