Authority Awaiting State Funding News

Stiffler McGraw Engineer John Clabaugh, senior project manager, was present at the Williamsburg Municipal Authority’s regular meeting April 2 and said that he is awaiting results from the April 17 PennVEST meeting to see if a funding offer will be made to the authority.

PennVEST was founded on March 1, 1988, and serves the communities and citizens of Pennsylvania by funding sewer, storm water and drinking water projects.

Engineer Clabaugh also instructed authority members that the Pa. Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP) has made some rule changes which now require a system map and have a chlorine level requirement.

Clabaugh asked if he was to begin work on meeting the new DEP rules. Authority Member Ed Patterson remarked, “we need John’s help to navigate through this.”

Authority Vice Chairman Harry Mullins then made a motion to instruct Clabaugh to begin work to meet DEP requirements with Secretary Daryl Cole seconding. The motion passed.

Williamsburg Borough Manager Joe Lansberry discussed with authority members the Third Street paving project, with an estimated cost of $55,000 to $60,000.

Vice Chairman Mullins made a motion to allow the borough to pay $15,000 of the cost with the authority picking up the rest. Treasurer David Myers seconded the motion, which passed.
