Greenfield Twp. Sets Cleanup 4/27

Greenfield Township has scheduled a spring community cleanup day for township residents on Saturday, April 27.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the township’s garage at 477 Ski Gap Road, Claysburg.

Collected items will include bulky waste items not accepted by a trash hauler, furniture, bedding, toys, doors, windows, porcelain and scrap metal. Clean tires will be collected for a fee. Items that will not be accepted include household garbage, hazardous waste, paint, yard waste, burning barrels or drums, skids and plastic drums.

Township supervisors met April 2 for the regular monthly meeting. Window replacements at the Greenfield Township Community Center and Bennett Building were approved for $5,918 and $2,295, respectively. Ami Fether was hired as part-time assistant township secretary-treasurer. The position is as-needed for a maximum of 20 hours per week and comes with a starting salary of $12 an hour.

Supervisors accepted the resignation of police officer Traci Winters, effective March 6. Winters has taken a position with the Tyrone Borough police.

Police Chief Ronald Sharkey received approval from supervisors to attend training on credit card fraud investigations and social media.

A complaint about the condition of properties located at 12036 and 12046 Dunnings Highway was to be referred to the police department and sewer enforcement officer.

Township officials plan to meet with PennDOT to prepare summer roadwork.

Closed-door sessions were held by the board of supervisors on March 11, 20 and 28 and April 1 and 2 to discuss personnel matters. On March 15, a closed-door session was held to discuss legal matters.
