Couple Honored by Co-Op

David O. and Terella Sue Rice of Clover Creek were named the Outstanding Cooperator of 1994-95 by Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association. The Rices were selected for the honor from 16 dairy farmers, mostly couples, who were selected as this year’s “Young Cooperatives” from the co-op’s membership of 1,300 members Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Rice operate a 126-acre dairy farm with 58 tillable acres. They have 54 head of registered Holsteins and are milking 44 at present. They have been farming on the former Robert and Louella Pheasant farm since moving there on March 1, 1991.

The Altoona First Savings Bank will open its new office at the corner of Park and Allegheny streets in Martinsburg on Monday, April 18, according to company president Leon Zook. Construction on the new 30x50-foot brick facility began in September and will be completed this week. Bonnie Risser is the manager of the Martinsburg office, which has five full-time and two part-time employees.
