NB Girls

Northern Bedford’s girls track and field squad split a home double-dual meet on April 9.

The Lady Panthers defeated Fannett-Metal 101-43 but fell in a close decision to West Branch, 77-72.

The Lady Panthers won three events on the track. Ariel Reed won the 300 hurdles, Denae Hershberger won the 3200-meter run, and the 400 meter relay team of Mara Laird, Courtney Morris, Paige Snider and Aylisa Morral broke the finish line tape first.

In the field, defending district champ McKenzie Troutman won the pole vault while Grace Burke won the shot put and Sydney Coffey won in the triple jump.

“We showed some improvement in some areas but it wasn’t enough to avoid a tough loss to West Branch. We are happy with the F-M win and hope we can continue improving individually and as a team,” NB head coach Jeff Batzel said.
