Jean B. Wilkinson, 82, of Roaring Spring, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening, April 21, 2019, at UPMC Altoona, following complications of a stroke.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday April 26, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral on Saturday, April 27, at Christ Church, Roaring Spring. Pastor Joel Kletzing will officiate.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Jean was born on Dec. 4, 1936, in Williamsburg, the daughter of the late Richard and Virgie (Lynn) Kensinger.
She married Gerald E. "Joe" Wilkinson on Aug. 16, 1958, in Roaring Spring.
She is survived by her husband; two children: Tammy W. Zook and husband Vance of Mechanicsburg and Scott E. Wilkinson and wife Rhonda of St. Charles, Missouri; four grandchildren: Ethan Zook, Elaina Zook, Joseph Wilkinson and Shelby Wilkinson; and a sister, Beverly Kahley of Roaring Spring.
She was a 1955 graduate of Roaring Spring High School.
She retired in 1999 as a branch manager for Mellon Bank with more than 20 years of service.
Jean was an active member of Christ Church, where she served on the consistory.
She was an active Rotarian, serving as the first female president of the Morrisons Cove Rotary Club, where she had received the Paul Harris Award; a board member Emeritus of the Dragon Pride Foundation; a member of the Red Hat Society; served on the Election Board for Taylor Township; and she also volunteered with American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
Jean enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and baking, traveling, reading, especially her Bible, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean's memory may be given to the Dragon Foundation, 1100 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673; or the Roaring Spring Community Library, 320 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
