CKHS Softball Has 8 Wins to 2 Losses

Claysburg-Kimmel won three of four during the past week in high school softball action.

The Lady Bulldogs were 8-2 through their first 10 games.

C-K 6, B-A 4

At B-A on April 16, C-K rallied for a 6-4 victory.

C-K led 3-1, before B-A scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Lady Bulldogs then scored three runs in the sixth to squeeze out the win.

C-K had 12 hits on the day, including six for extra bases. Harleigh Cavender, Emily Claar, Megan Hartman and Rebekah Claar each doubled and had two hits. Emily Claar also homered, drove in two runs and scored twice. Madison Frye also hit a home run, while Hartman scored twice.

Sierra Walters earned the win for C-K.

C-K 13, So. Hunt. 4

At Southern Huntingdon on April 17, C-K piled on six runs in the seventh en route to its sixth straight victory, 13-4.

C-K scored four in the first and one in the fourth, before Southern Huntingdon scored twice in the fifth. After scoring two in the sixth, the Lady Bulldogs broke the game open in the seventh. Southern Huntingdon scored twice in the last inning to set the final score.

The Lady Bulldogs ripped 16 hits on the day, including two home runs. Harleigh Cavender homered and doubled, drove in six runs and scored twice. Emily Claar had a home run among her three hits, scored three times and had two RBIs. Jazmin Kennedy paced the hit parade with four, scored three times and drove in two. Madison Frye and Rebekah Claar each added two hits.

Winning pitcher Olivia Bushore and Sierra Walters each pitched for C-K.

C-K Splits Doubleheader

With West Branch

C-K hosted West Branch on April 18 and split a doubleheader. The Lady Bulldogs won the opener 5-4, extending their winning streak to seven. The streak ended in the second game, as West Branch prevailed 4-3 in eight innings.

In the first game, C-K rallied for the one-run victory. Scoreless through five innings, C-K scored two in the bottom of the sixth. West Branch rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh, before the Lady Bulldogs scored three times to win it.

Haileigh Reed had three hits, including a double, and four RBIs to pace C-K. Emily Claar added two hits, including the 100th of her career, and scored twice. Jazmin Kennedy added two hits.

Olivia Bushore earned the win on the mound, allowing five hits and striking out four.

In Game 2, West Branch earned a split with a run in the top of the eighth inning. C-K led 2-0 before West Branch went ahead with a three-run sixth. The Lady Bulldogs tied the score in the home half of the sixth inning.

Madison Frye ripped three doubles and Reed had two hits, including a double, and scored twice. Claar added a double.
