STEPHEN A. 'STEVE' SHOVER

Stephen A. “Steve” Shover, 63, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral was held on Saturday, April 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring. Pastor Kevin Locker officiated.

Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

Steve was born on May 25, 1955, in Roaring Spring, the son of the late Charles G. and Jean L. (Kauffman) Shover.

He married Pamela S. Ebersole on April 8, 1978.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 41 years; a daughter, Christi M. Gartland and husband Neil; two grandsons: Isaiah Edward and Noah Stephen Gartland; two sisters: Sharlene Lamborn (Herb), and Jennifer Baker (John Shope); a brother-in-law, Scott Ebersole (Kara); four nieces: Rachel Bonin, Michelle Bonin (Anthony) and Allyson and Abigayle Ebersole; two nephews: Jacob Shope and Anthony Ebersole; two great-nephews: Dakota Bonin and Mason Bonin; a great niece, MacKenzie Bonin; a cousin, Gary Kauffman (Marsha); and his mother-in-law, Janet Thomas.

He is also survived by his stepmother-in-law, Joan Ebersole, his guardian angel here on earth, who spent countless hours helping to care for Steve.

Steve was a 1973 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg.

For more than 40 years, he worked as a mason. In October 2017, he retired from the Bricklayers Union, Local No. 9 of Pittsburgh.

He was a member of the Cobras National Championship softball team and an avid sports fan. He enjoyed Central High School athletics, Penn State sports, Steelers football, Pirates baseball, Penguins hockey and auto racing.

He greatly enjoyed helping others and would do anything to help someone.

Steve loved spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons, who were the light of his life. He took great pride in being their “Pappy.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Steve’s memory be made to Morrisons Cove Memorial Park, 201 S. Walnut St., Martinsburg, PA 16662; or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 434 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
