Furious Rally Lifts CKHS by MU

The Claysburg-Kimmel baseball team improved to 8-6 overall following two victories during the past week.

C-K 9, Mt. Union 8

Trailing 8-0 heading into the last of the seventh inning against visiting Mount Union on April 23, the Bulldogs strung together eight runs to send the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the 12th, Corey Chamberlain brought home Kobe Harr with a single to give the Bulldogs a 9-8 victory.

The loss was Mount Union’s first of the season.

Mount Union built its eight-run lead by scoring twice in each the first, third, six and seventh innings.

Chamberlain finished with three RBIs. Harr scored twice in the game, while Lucas Mock drove in two runs.

Chamberlain, Dominic Francona and Kyle Glass threw on the mound for C-K. Francona earned the win by tossing no-hit ball during the final two innings.

C-K 12, Mo Valley 4

At Moshannon Valley on April 25, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead en route to a 12-4 victory.

C-K scored five run in each the first and third innings. After Moshannon Valley scored four in the fourth, the Bulldogs tacked on two runs in the seventh.

R.J. Helsel went 5-for-5, including a double, and drove in two runs to pace C-K. Connor Oakes added four hits, including a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, while Kyle Glass had three hits and scored three runs. Corey Chamberlain and Parker Dibert each drove in two runs, while Lucas Mock crossed the plate twice.

Chamberlain earned the win, as he struck out eight in six innings. Dominic Francona struck out two in relief.
