Lady Bulldogs Win 10th of Season

Two more victories during the past week pushed the Claysburg-Kimmel softball team to 10-2 on the season.

C-K 9, Portage 4

The Lady Bulldogs earned a 9-4, come-from-behind victory over visiting Portage on April 22.

Trailing 4-1, C-K scored once in the fourth and took the lead for good with a five-run rally in the fifth. The home team tacked on two runs in the sixth to set the final score.

Emily Claar paced C-K’s 12-hit parade with three, including a double. She also scored two runs. Corryne Weyandt and Madison Frye (double) each had two hits and two RBIs, while Haileigh Reed belted a home run, drove in two runs and scored twice. Madison Knisley drove in two runs and had a double. Harleigh Cavender, who had a double, also crossed the plate twice.

Winning pitcher Olivia Bushore fanned nine, allowed seven hits and walked two.

C-K 10, Mo Valley 0

Host C-K earned its fifth shutout of the season on April 25, 10-0 over Moshannon Valley.

The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the first, four times in the second and four in the fourth.

Emily Claar had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs and scored three times to pace C-K. Corryne Weyandt, Haileigh Reed (double) and Harleigh Cavender each drove in two runs. Madison Frye and Madison Knisley each doubled.

Olivia Bushore struck out six and allowed just two hits in the victory.
