SC Historial Group 'Historian of the Year'

The Bedford County Historical Society honored the Southern Cove Historical Group as its Historian of the Year on April 27. Members of the historical group in attendance were (from left): Tom Claycomb, Michael Priselac, Angela Ickes-Priselac, Linda Claycomb, Commissioner Barry Dallara, Gail Hershberger, Jerry Hershberger, Naomi Sollenberger and Bob Detwiler and Commissioner Josh Lang.

The Bedford County Historical Society recognized the Southern Cove Historical Group as its Historian of the Year during its annual History Banquet on April 27 at the Hall at Kinton's Knob in Bedford.

The Southern Cove Historical Group, based in New Enterprise, received the honor for its efforts last year to plan and then conduct a bus tour of the historical sites in Southern Cove: the Waterside Woolen Mill, several grist mills, two churches and the Claysburg Homestead. The tour was very well attended and plans are being made for another tour on Saturday, June 8.

The group began around 2010...
