Reception For Soldier
Herald of May 11, 1919
Councilman and Mrs. I. E. Brumbaugh on Saturday evening entertained a number of young people at a reception in honor of their son, Sergeant Earl Brumbaugh, who arrived home Saturday morning after 16 months spent on the battlefields of France. Mr. and Mrs. Brumbaugh had their home beautifully decorated with the national colors and the young folks had a splendid time together. Music, games and a description of scenes and incidents from the battle front made a very interesting evening. At a late hour a delicious luncheon was served.
Mrs. Eliza Hershberger, a highly respected and aged lady, mother of one of Martinsburg’s well known citizens, George Hershberger, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Baker, of Snake Spring Valley, on Saturday evening at 7 o’clock, of disease incident to advanced years. She was aged 88 years, 2 months and 15 days.
A farewell party was held Wednesday evening of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bonebreak, in honor of their daughter Miss Marion.
