9. Candidate’s previous experience in related office – While I have never ran for or held an elected office, I hold a Bachelors degree in political science and have been involved in campaigns for varying elected offices, both local and statewide.

10. Why are you running for this office – I am running because the taxpayers deserve a coroner who dedicates themselves to the office full time without other employment obligations. I will work to protect our taxpayers and families by serving with compassion, reliability and professionalism. I want to develop the budget to have better use of staff scheduling, continuing education and improved office technologies.

11. What is the biggest problem you expect to face in office – Streamlining the budget to ensure the most efficient use of manpower and county funds while still proving productive services for the county.

12. What is the most important issue related to the position you are seeking – When speaking with citizens and those in the professional community who work with the coroner’s office regularly, the most important issue we face is making the office more timely with filing and reporting as well as becoming an independent office that will remove any professional and personal conflicts of interest that have had decades to become commonplace.

13. What are your primary goals for the position you are seeking – I have the goals of raising the professional standards of the office by committing to methodical use of budgeting, better vetting of staff, building trust through transparency with local law enforcement and first responders, and maintaining an independent and unbiased department.

14. What opportunities do you perceive in the position you are seeking – I look forward to working for improved service to the community through utilizing a proactive and preventative approach to the county’s public health and also through in-person involvement with local community organizations.

15. What other comments would you like to make regarding the position you are seeking – Experience is often the most prevalent point of objection as a new candidate. I ask the voters to pause and ask, when an incumbent has been unopposed for two decades, in a job that, by most standards, the average person wouldn’t voluntarily pursue due to the tragic nature of what the job entails, isn’t it the right time to bring an option of another candidate?

I am an option with fresh ideas and new approaches to solve old issues that have been allowed to grow unchecked. In giving you this choice, I will work to provide the checks and balances that will keep Blair County held to the standards that we deserve.
