Claysburg Man Jailed on Gun and Drug Charges at Elementary School

A Claysburg man is behind bars following his arrest in the parking lot of Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary School on April 3.

According to charges filed by Greenfield Township police, Joshua A. Hileman, 33, was sitting in his car in the parking lot of the school while his girlfriend, Brooke McGeary, took Hileman's son inside at approximately 10:20 a.m.

Greenfield Township Police officer Brittany Diehl, who also serves as the school's resource officer, was notified by staff that a woman had dropped the boy off after him being absent for approximately a week and a half. School officials had been unable to contact the boy's family as to why he was missing school.

While investigating the whereabouts of the boy, police were made aware that Hileman had current bench warrants through Blair County courts.

After questioning McGeary, police were informed that Hileman was sitting in his car in the elementary school parking lot.

When officer Diehl began questioning Hileman, he allegedly became angry and began yelling obscenities, prompting her to call for assistance.

When other officers arrived on the scene, they attempted to remove him from the elementary school parking lot due to his combative nature.

As officers attempted to take Hileman into custody, he resisted and refused to follow commands. After being handcuffed and placed in the patrol car, Hileman allegedly began kicking the inside of the passenger door, damaging the frame.

Hileman was taken to the Greenfield Township police station to await Blair County Sheriff's deputies who were in route to execute the warrants.

While being driven to the station by Greenfield Township Police Chief Ronald Sharkey, Hileman allegedly told him "I'm going to kill you and your family."

When sheriff's deputies arrived to take him into custody, Hileman allegedly made racial slurs to a female deputy.

While being searched at the station, Hileman told the officers "I hope you all die in the line of duty."

Officers were notified by 911 dispatch that McGeary also had active warrants, and when they returned to the school to search Hileman's vehicle, she was taken into custody.

While searching the vehicle, police found two small baggies of suspected methamphetamine. Police also found a small scale along with a stolen handgun.

Hileman faces felony and misdemeanor charges of drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a prohibited weapon, endangering the welfare of children, terroristic threats, receiving stolen property, ethnic intimidation and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger, Martinsburg, and committed to Blair County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for today, May, 16, in front of Judge Blattenberger.
