Allegheny Street in Hollidaysburg was packed on May 18 with The Voice artist Jimmy Mowery, an Altoona native, returning to perform for his fans.

If you've wondered when it was finally going to stop raining and feel like spring, the answer is Saturday, May 18. Despite forecasts for rain, morning sprinkles gave way to a surprisingly hot and sunny afternoon.
It was the perfect day for the Historic Hollidaysburg Springfest. Presented by the Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership (HACP), a membership-driven organization that plan and promote downtown events, support streetscape improvements and other community efforts, Springfest was loaded with events.
Downtown merchants featured sidewalk sales, HACP held a scavenger hunt and vendor fair, the Hollidaysburg Library offered a Kid Zone, Hollidaysburg Historic Society offered walking tours, the Blair Regional YMCA started the day with various races while the Everett Railroad offered rides on its historic trains.
These choices brought families and friends downtown but the biggest draw, the one people were talking about all day, was the final performer on the live music stage. Jimmy Mowery, an Altoona native and The Voice contestant from this season, was slated to perform at 4 p.m.
Allegheny Street was closed at Front Street up to the Diamond with the music stage on Allegheny at Front Street. Though not many people were on the street earlier, by Mowery's show time, the street and sidewalks were jam-packed with fans.
Leading up to Jimmy Mowery's performance, HACP presented performances by the Hollidaysburg Area High School Jazz Band, Eric McCrum, Zach Wade & The Good Grief, Wilted, and Coltt Lepley.
By 4:30 p.m., when Mowery and band members Ian Bennett, Ty Ayers, Jason Klocker and Trey Carruthers, who are also Mowery's friends, finished setting up and were ready to play, the crowd was primed to see a local celebrity bring his unique music sound back to Blair County. They weren't disappointed. It was a perfect ending to a perfect May day.
