BETTE A. METZLER

Bette A. (Weaver) Metzler, 92, of Martinsburg, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Homewood at Martinsburg, where she was a resident.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. today, Thursday, May 23, followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at the Homewood at Martinsburg Chapel.

Interment will be in Kauffman Cemetery, Curryville.

Bette was born on July 30, 1926, in Saxton, daughter of the late Murl and Edith Pearl (Brickley) Weaver.

She married L.C. (Red) Metzler in January 1944, He preceded her in death in November 1993.

Surviving as sons Rodney and Don Metzler of Martinsburg; daughter Valerie Metzler of Altoona; brother Richard Weaver (Carol) of Michigan; grandchildren Troy and Marshall Metzler, Andy Metzler, Amy Miller and Ezra, Issac and Christian Minter; and great-grandchildren Shelby and Sydney Metzler and Reese and Quinn Miller.

Bette was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Metzler; and her siblings: Earl, Paul, Luetta, Dorothy, Hope, Lois and Gerald.

Bette was a former member of Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren. She was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader.

While residing in Venice, Florida, Bette was a member of Auburn Road Presbyterian Church.

She loved music and sang professionally in the 1930s and 1940s with her sisters Hope and Lois – "The Weaver Sisters."

Bette was an accomplished artist, having numerous commissioned art works.

She loved to entertain family and friends at her home, she was quite the consummate hostess.

Bette was a cancer survivor of 40 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bette's name can be made to the Kauffman Cemetery (First National Bank, Martinsburg).
