Life Commences Anew

Herald of June 11, 2009

A rainy commencement night could not diminish the sunny smiles of the 160 Central High School graduating seniors or their best wishes for one another. The sea of scarlet and gray gowns on the stage along with the overflowing auditorium audience spontaneously rose to their feet, erupting in lengthy applause for the five graduates entering the United States military.

Superintendent Rodney Green said, “May God bless you. You deserve our appreciation.”

Dr. Micheal J. Dillion, executive director of the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 08, addressing the Class of 2009 at Claysburg-Kimmel on Sunday, urged the graduates to be risk takers. “Pick yourself a goal so noble, so profound that you’ll make your life special.”

State Sen. John Eichelberger Jr., addressing the Northern Bedford Class of 2009 in commencement ceremonies June 4, urged them to remember the feeling of accomplishment and excitement about the future they were experiencing that night. “This is,” he said. “your winning spirit.”
