Members of the 2019 Claysburg-Kimmel graduating class toss their caps in the air on Sunday, June 2, to celebrate the end of their high school careers.

Claysburg-Kimmel High School's Class of 2019 entered the school's 98th commencement exercises on Sunday, June 2, as seniors and exited as adults.
A new phase of life began for the 80 seniors who received their diplomas in front of loved ones and friends.
The students of the graduating class filed to the stage and took their place in front of a backdrop that read, "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you have actually left them."
Emily G. Claar, valedictorian and class president, told her fellow graduates that "we could look at each other and say, 'We finally made it. We did it.'"
Reflecting on the many memories that the classmates forged during their high school days, Claar said, "We remember when these students sitting next to us became not only our classmates, but our friends."
Richelle I. Brown, class salutatorian. said each of her classmates can feel a sense of accomplishment.
Stephen P. Puskar, secondary principal, said to the seniors that while there have been many good old days in the past, the best are the "things that happened with your friends and loved ones."
Puskar urged the graduates to engage in real interpersonal relations in the next phase of their lives.
Canaan Burket, senior class vice president, presented the Teacher Appreciation Award to John Caracciolo, a math instructor at the high school.
Other class officers who participated in the ceremony wer Siddiq M. Smouse, treasurer, who led the "reflections," and Justinna M. Brown, secretary, who led the Pledge of Allegiance.
School Board President Richard W. Gergely and district Superintendent Darren J. McLaurin presented the graduates with their diplomas followed by the singing of the school alma mater. This was McLaurin's second graduation ceremony as superintendent of the district.
The graduating class then filed out of the auditorium, congregated in front of the school sign and tossed their caps into the air, signifying the end of one phase of their lives and the beginning of another.
