Central High School Lists Award, Scholarship Winners

 


Central High School graduated 133 students on June 6 from Spring Cove School District. Forty-five seniors were presented with awards and scholarships.

Recipients of awards and scholarships were:

Thad Albright of Martinsburg, son of Jerry and Bobbi Albright – plans to attend Saint Francis University. Awarded the CHS Social Students Department Scholarship, the Nelson D. Metzger Memorial Scholarship, Leah Hoover Memorial Foundation Scholarship and the Ed Miles Memorial Dragon Spirit Award.

Wesley Drew Albright of Curryville, son of Wes and Doris Albright – plans to attend CPI. Awarded the Keith Paden Scholarship.

Alison Appleman of Roaring Spring – plans on attending Penn State Altoona. Awarded the Altoona B’nai B’rith Lodge Robert Lebendig Scholarship.

Alex Aungst – awarded the Hetrick Family Scholarship.

Jordan Bowman of Roaring Spring, son of Craig and Adrianne Bowman – plans to attend Altoona GACTC. Awarded the Aaron N. Stuckey Memorial Scholarship, D. Michael Claycomb Scholarship, McEldowney Scholarship and the Steve King Memorial Scholarship.

Christopher Bush of Martinsburg, son of Destarta Carberry and Douglas Bush – plans to attend Saint Vincent College. Awarded the Jonathan Trujillo Annual Commemorative Rotary Scholarship.

Ashley Claar of Roaring Spring, daughter of Stephen and Jennifer Claar – plans to attend Saint Francis University. Awarded The Challenge Program Inc. Award for STEM, Wilt Gillette Family Science Award and the Trooper Landon Weaver Memorial Scholarship.

Dylan Claycomb of Roaring Spring, daughter of Pam and Dave Claycomb – plans to attend Edinboro University. Awarded the Lisa Audet Meyers Memorial Scholarship and the Zach Hinish Scholarship.

William Davis of Martinsburg, son of David and Donna Davis – awarded the NPC Inc Business and Technology Award.

Patrick Dennis of Duncansville, son of Angela and Ronald Mellott – awarded the Spring Cove 2019 Spirit Award.

Shannon Detwiler of Martinsburg, daughter of Tom and Tammy Detwiler – plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology. Awarded the Lisa Audet Meyers Memorial Scholarship and the Trooper Landon Weaver Memorial Scholarship.

Jarod Dick of Martinsburg, son of Jason and Rebekah Dick – plans to attend Penn State Altoona. Awarded the Central County Golf Association Paul Bradley Award and the Leah Hoover Memorial Foundation Scholarship.

Caroline Eckenrode of Martinsburg, daughter of Jim and Luanne Eckenrode – plans to attend Penn State Altoona. Awarded the Stay Strong Award.

Caden Hazenstab of Roaring Spring, son of Shane and Danielle Hazenstab – plans to attend Penn State University Park. Awarded the CHS Foreign Language Department Scholarship, SHH – Sigma Delta Pi Award for Foreign Language, SHH – Joseph Adams Scholarship for Foreign Language, Apples – Overall Spanish IV Foreign Language Festival Winner, USMC Academic Excellence Award, Blair County Bar Association Scholarship, Morrisons Cove Rotary Club Scholarship, Robert L. Hite Memorial Scholarship and The Heuston Scholarship Award.

Cynda Hoover of Martinsburg, daughter of Bill and Dianna Hoover – plans to attend Huntingdon Career and Technology Center. Awarded the Gabrielle Frick Scholarship.

Logan Marko of Roaring Spring, son of David and Rebecca Marko – plans to attend Washington and Jefferson College. Awarded the D. Michael Claycomb Scholarship, USMC Distinguished Athlete Award, Bill and Janie Groff Memorial Scholarship, Tom Kennedy Memorial Scholarship and the Mark Wesley Memorial Scholarship.

Jocelyn Miller of Martinsburg. daughter of Brian and Jackie Miller – enlisting in the U.S Coast Guard. Awarded the USMC Distinguished Athlete Award and the Martinsburg Business and Professional Women Award.

Alana Padula of Martinsburg, daughter of Brian and Jaime Campbell – plans to attend Carlow University. Awarded the Jeff Meals Memorial Award and the Hollidaysburg Soccer Association Scholarship.

Danielle Peck of Roaring Spring, daughter of Andy and Lisa Peck – plans to attend Penn State Altoona. Awarded the Alex Barkman Memorial Scholarship.

Katie Ponder of Roaring Spring, daughter of Jim and Lisa Ponder – awarded the CHS Music Department Scholarship, Jack Shaffer Memorial Award, USMC Semper Fidelis Musical Excellence Award.

Alyssa Reed of Roaring Spring, daughter of Travis and Jamie Dunmire – plans to attend Juniata College. Emma Smith of Martinsburg, daughter of Lon and Kathy Smith – plans to attend Kutztown University. Class of 2019 Salutatorian, CHS Art Department Award, SHH- Sigma Delta Pi Award for Foreign Language, The Challenge Program Inc. Award for Academic Excellence, Robert L. Hite Memorial Scholarship and the CHS American Red Cross Scholarship.

Jessalyn Smith of East Freedom, daughter of Chris and Kris Smith – plans to attend South Hills School of Business and Technology. Awarded the Lisa Audet Meyers Memorial Scholarship and the CHS Class of 1993 Scholarship.

Kase Smith of Martinsburg, son of Mandy and Doug Smith – plans to attend Juniata College. Awarded two of the David and Janet Hileman Scholarships (FFA Keystone Degree and 4-H Livestock).

Shayla Smith of Roaring Spring, daughter of Nicole and Jamey Smith – plans to attend Allegany College of Maryland. Awarded the Nason Foundation Community Service Award and Allegany College of Maryland Presidential Scholarship.

Micah Snowberger of Duncansville, son of Jason and Alisha Snowberger – plans to attend Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. Awarded the Central Hydraulics Scholarship.

Tanner Snyder of Roaring Spring, son of Erik and Loulena Leighty – plans on attending Pittsburgh Technical College. Awarded the 2019 Military Appreciation Award.

Kara Stultz of Williamsburg, daughter of Rob and Tammy Stultz – plans to attend Penn State University Park. Awarded the CHS Vocational Agriculture Department Scholarship, three of the David and Janet Hileman Scholarships (4-H, FFA Keystone Degree and Blair Co. Dairy Club), Harry E. Clarke Jr. Scholarship, Teeter Group Foundation Scholarship, Bice Memorial Journalism Award and the Smith Agricultural Award.

Casey Walters of Martinsburg, son of Melanie Depetro – plans to attend University of Northern Ohio. Awarded the CHS Physical Education Department Award.

Zayd Way of East Freedom, son of Heidi and Shaun McGinnis – awarded The Challenge Program Inc. Award for Community Service.

Brandon Zeigler of Roaring Spring, son of Michele and Shawn Dick and Butch and Sonya Zeigler – plans to attend the Community College of the Air Force. Awarded the 2019 Military Appreciation Award.

Joseph Zimmerman of Roaring Spring, son of Tim and Stacey Zimmerman – plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University. Awarded the Lisa Audet Meyers Memorial Scholarship.
