GEORGE F. SHAW

George F. Shaw, 92, of Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring, died on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, following a brief illness.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral today, Thursday, June 13, at Christ Church, Roaring Spring. Pastor John Nothwang will officiate.

Interment will be made at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.

George was born on Nov. 8, 1926, in Leamersville, the son of the late Fred B. and Lena (Spidle) Shaw.

He married Aldine A. Evans on April 29, 1947, in Duncansville. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 2017.

George is survived by a son, Lane G. Shaw and wife Kathy of Alpharetta, Georgia; a grandson, Trevor L. Shaw and wife Jennifer of Woodstock, Georgia; three great-grandchildren: Mattie, Lauryn and Amelia; a step-granddaughter, Carrie Ann Sienkiewicz and husband Scott of Dawsonville, Georgia; a step-great-grandson, Jack; and a sister, Bea Ritchey of Diamond Bar, California.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Eleanor Mallory and Helen Guyer.

He was a 1945 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.

Upon his discharge from the military, George had worked as a retail associate at Sears and had then became proprietor of several retail businesses in the Roaring Spring area.

George was a member of Christ Church, where he had served as elder.

He had been a member of the Roaring Spring Lions and the Jaffa Motor Corp.

He enjoyed making stained glass, growing day lilies, and flower gardening.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in George’s memory may be given to Christ Church, 7758 Woodbury Pike, Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
