Late DCC Rally Ends C-K's Campaign

Members of the Claysburg-Kimmel softball team mob Harleigh Cavender following her grand slam in the fifth inning against DuBos Central Catholic on June 6 at Mount Aloysius College, Cresson. Cavender's slam put C-K in front 5-2, only to see DCC rally for a 6-5, nine-inning victory in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class 1A Championships.

The 2019 campaign for the Claysburg-Kimmel girls softball team ended in heart-breaking fashion on June 6 at Mount Aloysius College, Cresson.

C-K, the two-time defending District 6 Class 1A champions, battled District 9 champion DuBois Central Catholic in a PIAA quarterfinal matchup. The Lady Bulldogs squandered a 5-2 lead and eventually fell 6-5 in nine innings.

C-K, which knocked off DCC in last year's quarterfinals en route to the semifinals, finished this season with a 20-5 record.
