A Lethal Legacy," written by Heather Graham, is the fourth installment in her New York Confidential series. Special Agent Craig Frasier and his girlfriend, psychologist Kieran Finnegan, go to the aid of Frasier's cousin, Finn Douglas. Douglas has contacted Fraiser to come to the family's Douglas Island, off the coast of New York state, to investigate the death of Finn's long time friend, Frank Landon.

Douglas Island is full of myths and legends. The rocky cliffs are full of caverns which are associated with a New York bank robbery where the bank robbers were found dead. The robbers seemingly were killed by jumping or falling off of the rocky cliffs. There are many other stories about this island. The biggest rumor is the Ark of the Covenant, the golden box created to hold the 10 Commandments, may be hidden on the island.

Finn Douglas has taken on the remodeling of the island's old rambling manor house, with plans to turn the island into a resort getaway for the overworked city dwellers. Frank Landon had been exploring the many caves and was found at the bottom of the rocky cliffs. His death appeared to have been caused by a fall from the cliffs.

This murder/mystery has interesting people, weird groups (the "Believers" and "Nonbelievers"), aliens, and a lot of history. Readers will be guessing who is behind the strange events and the death of Landon. Is the murderer associated with one of the Believers, Nonbelievers or someone else staying on Douglas Island, or is it really aliens?

Craig and Kieran must search for the truth, but one wrong turn or false step could send them plummeting to their deaths or bring them face-to-face with a killer.
