Pastor Receives the Prestigious Rev. Walden M. Holl Award

During the Allegheny Lutheran Synod Assembly of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America held in Altoona in June, Pastor Ed Harshbarger was presented with the prestigious Rev. Walden M. Holl Award.

This award is given to a recipient who demonstrates an outstanding commitment and concern for those whom he or she serves, shows by creative action and sincere attitude "love, mercy and compassion for others," demonstrates personal integrity and Christian service in all phases of life and understands the needs of humanity which the church is called to serve and integrates skills and expertise in guiding others in understanding various social issues.

After seminary, he served various parishes in Pennsylvania as pastor, director of education and director of music.

Pastor Ed served as interim pastor at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Martinsburg for more than three years. In addition he served at St. James in Altoona, Grace Lutheran in Bellwood and has recently provided pastoral care and comfort to residents at Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries.

Pastor Ed teaches, advises, comforts and supports everyone he comes in contact with. He does all this with a sense of humor and a caring nature.

Pastor Ed is presently caring for a family member in Maryland but is now a member of St. Matthew and plans to move to the Cove in the future.
