Herald of June 23, 1994

Three area farms have been given the eighth annual Dairy of Distinction award through the Northeast Dairy Farm Beautification Program. Receiving the award are the Paulden Farm, owned by Paul D. and Karen Turner of New Enterprise RD; the Pennsylvania Fair Valley Farm, owned by Randall and Karen Huntsman of Martinsburg RD 2; and Mid-Vel Farms, owned by Mark E. and Raymond R. Yoder of Imler.

Lightning is being blamed for starting the fire Monday that burned more than 25 acres on Cool Hill on State Game Land 73 in Hopewell Township. According to Southern Cove Fire Company, a lightning bolt struck one of the trees late Sunday afternoon, smoldered and finally caught fire on Monday. The fire could be seen Monday afternoon and evening for miles down Route 26 toward Everett and around the Jack’s Corner area.

Paul E. Claycomb, pastor of churches at Beavertown, Mines and Royer for the past two years, will be ordained Sunday afternoon by the United Church of Christ.
