Smith Earns National Honor

Morrisons Cove Home volunteer Kelli Smith, 18, was recognized for her dedication and unselfish spirit at a national awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 14. A graduate in the Central High School Class of 1994, the Roaring Spring resident was one of four Pennsylvanians to receive the Jefferson Award for public service in the local community. Smith and the other finalists received an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to attend the 25th annual national awards ceremony.

Paul Stonerook of Martinsburg RD 1 will be honored during the annual Morrisons Cove Agricultural Parade on Thursday, July 7, in Martinsburg. Stonerook, 82, has been name by the parade committee as this year’s Morrisons Cove Agricultural Honoree. A retired dairy farmer, Stonerook has been active in many farm and community organizations.

Kenneth Ayers of Roaring Spring RD was installed as president of the Cove Lions Club at the June 23 meeting.

Sara Jane Steele was seated as the new president of the Cove Lioness Club.
