Kyler Found Guilty

Following a two-day trial, J. Frank Kyler of Roaring Spring was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of William Butler on March 22. Kyler shot Butler from the window of a Martinsburg home when the victim entered the yard near midnight. The jury’s verdict included a recommendation for mercy. Kyler faced a maximum sentence of 12 years and a fine of $1,000.
