KENNETH L. WYLAND

 


Kenneth L. “Red” Wyland, 78, of McKee, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, July 2, 2019, at UPMC Altoona, after a brief illness.

A Celebration of Life service was held on Sunday, July 7, at the Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., http://www.thompsonfh.com, Roaring Spring. Pastor Larry Weaver and Brother Bill Biddle officiated.

Ken was born on Aug. 24, 1940, in Williamsburg, the son of the late Arthur A. “Art” and Ethel P. (Woomer) Wyland.

He married Yvonne Lantz on July 28, 1988.

Ken is survived by his wife; four children: Mark L. Wyland and wife Judy, Michelle Kay Wyland-O’Brien, Bretta (Wyland) Shaw and husband Tim and Brenda (Wyland) Wilt and husband Tim; his former wife, Judy (Dick) Williams; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Kay Biddle and husband Bill, Janie Myers and husband Don, Matilda “Tick” Wyland and special friend Bill Over, Sally Eicher and husband Jim and Polly Hoover and husband Dale; and a brother, Gary Wyland and special friend Carol Hammel.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Colin Joseph O’Brien; a great-grandson, Colton Anthony Wyland; and two brothers: Theodore “Ted” Wyland and Jackie N. Wyland.

He was owner/operator of McKee Woodworking and was formerly employed at Ralph J. Albarano & Sons Inc.

Ken was a member of the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren.

He was a life member of Lions Clubs International.

Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, building furniture, playing Yahtzee, following the Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates and Steelers, and raising rabbits with Lou Raines of New York.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ken’s memory may be given to the Freedom Township Volunteer Fire Company, 139 Municipal St., East Freedom, PA 16637.
