International Friends Visit RS

The Roaring Spring Historical Society was delighted to welcome more international friends to its monthly "Ice Cream Special" event June 16. Central High School alumna and former exchange student from Norway Sofie May Raines recently returned to the Cove with her friend, Erik Parker, to visit her "American home." Sofie attended Central during the 2009-10 school year and is currently studying Russian in Norway. She also caught up with her cross-country coach, Jerome Conlon, president of the historical society.

The "Ice Cream Special" events are co-sponsored by the historical society and the Everett Railroad. This month's events will be held this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21. The station visitor's center will be open and selling ice cream and refreshments from 2:45 to 4 p.m. The Everett Railroad train arrives at approximately 3 p.m. If you would like to join the passengers on the round-trip journey from Hollidaysburg, visit http://www.everettrailroad.com for information and tickets.
